Title borrowed from Father Ferré, who himself found it written on the bottom of one of Beethoven’s scores.

We must choose between reality and fiction, the weight of the body and the lightness of the soul. This is also the essence of what Kundera tells us in “The Unbearable Lightness of Being”. We have to define a life in the reality we have chosen.

The series of photographs chosen for the exhibition and the book is in no way an empirical and rational demonstration of this thought, but rather the result of a daily practice of the photographic medium. This floating group of images questions our sight and its photographic materialisation.

The primary intention of this work is situated at the meeting point of Winogrand’s “to see what things look like once they have been photographed” and Stieglitz’s “Equivalents” (where the image evokes a state of mind fixed in the memory). And beyond idle words, for me it is simply a sweet ode to anarchy, to happy disorder. A small attempt to explore truth and its perception, a desire for poetry. Distraction by the concentration of the gesture of photographing. Scattered images gathered over the last six years between intimate daily life and a wider topology.
