Organic image making & recuperation

Contretype
Cité Fontainas, 4A
1060 Saint-Gilles
Bruxelles

Saturday 24/05
9h30 – 15h30

Organic materials have been used to develop photographic film throughout history.
From the early discovery of anthotypes—created by emulsifying light-sensitive plant powders—to the invention of collodion dry plates, Nick Verhaeghe has long been inspired to look deeper into the world around him to enhance his photographic practice.

In this workshop, Nick Verhaeghe will introduce participants to one of the most well-known methods of plant-based development. You will take your own photographs during a photowalk in the neighborhood, create your own coffee-based developer, and use it to process your film rolls. The session will also include a discussion about the possibilities and limitations of working with organic materials in photography.
(in partnership with the Art et marges musée)
